We’re thrilled to be talking to Katherine O’Brian from MaryAnn Kempher’s Mocha, Moonlight, and Murder.  It is a pleasure to have her with us today at Pimp That Character!

Thank you for your interview, Katherine.  How old are you and what do you do for a living?

I’m twenty-eight and I work at Avalon Apparels. It’s their headquarters. I’m an office assistant.

Can you tell us about one of your most distinguishable features?

Oh gosh, I don’t know. People compliment me on my dark blonde hair. I like it because it’s thick. I hope it stays that way. My mom’s got thin as she got older.

What would I love the most about you?

Oh wow. What do people like the most about me? Probably my sense of humor. I can be sarcastic and I’ve been called a smart you know what, but I’m not mean.

Where do you go when you are angry?

The same place I go when I’m in a good mood—Starbucks. Coffee makes everything better.

What makes you laugh out loud?

Lately? Scott. I went back to college; I only need one class. I know, I know, why did I get so close to my degree and stop? That’s a long story. Anyway, I’ve gone back and Scott is my lab partner. He’s a huge pain in the butt, but he’s also funny and cute and sexy. Oh gosh, now you got me started. Better change the subject.

What is in your refrigerator right now?

Not much, maybe some lunch meat, but my freezer has at least two pints of chocolate and peanut butter ice cream.

What is your most treasured possession?

I have a picture of my mom, she died a few years ago. Anyway, the picture isn’t that old, but it was taken when she was still healthy. I always smile when I look at it. I really do miss my mom.

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?

Oh, absolutely. She really nailed my sense of humor.

What is your idea of a perfect day?

First think in the morning while watching television, I drink my coffee and eat an apple fritter, or two. After a while, I’ll go get ready and probably go to the mall and walk around, maybe go see a movie. After that, if I don’t have plans with friends, I’ll go home and order a pizza and eat while watching television. Do you see a pattern here?

What is your favorite weather?

Stormy. I love it when it’s raining hard and I can see lightning from my living room window and hear the thunder. I don’t want to drive in that weather, but it’s so nice when I’m home and comfy.

Genre: Romance Mystery

One night, 28-year-old, Katherine O’Brian, decides to walk to an all-night diner. The only problem? It’s midnight, but Katherine lives in Reno Nevada, a city that never sleeps; she can clearly see the diner’s lights in the distance. It’s no big deal, until she passes someone’s garage where a man is loading a dead body into the trunk of his car.

And now, she’s in trouble. She outran the man that night, and while she has no idea who he is, he knows who she is. And he wants her dead.

As if attempts on her life weren’t stressful enough, Katherine has gone back to college. She’s determined to finally finish her degree, but her lab partner is driving her crazy. He’s hot, but annoying. And she’s not sure which she wants more—a night of mad, passionate sex or a new lab partner. It varies from day to day.

Will Katherine give in to her lust for her partner or will she give in to her desire to throttle him? If she’s in the ground before graduation, it won’t matter.

Not your typical romance, not your typical mystery.
