Character Interview: "Jeff" from Kelly Wilson's CASKETS FROM COSTCO

We’re thrilled to be talking to Jeff from Kelly Wilson’s, Caskets From Costco.  It is a pleasure to have him with us today at Pimp That Character!

Thank you for your interview, Jeff.  How old are you and what do you do for a living? 

I am 42 and I am Kelly’s husband in the book. I am also a musician and a band director at a junior high and high school.

Can you tell us about one of your most distinguishable features? 

I am quite tall and hairy, and I have one of those faces that don’t show emotion – there’s a term for it, Resting Bitch Face. Everybody thinks I’m mad all the time, but I’m mostly easy-going.

Do you like to cook?  If so, what is your favorite thing to cook? 

I am a fabulous cook. I love to use my cast iron to cook anything and everything. My favorite thing to cook is beef, searing it on the outside then baking it to perfection. Also, sautéed brussel sprouts.

What’s your idea of a perfect meal? 

I’m all about the meat. The best meal I had was at Ruth’s Chris Steak House, which was a steak served on a hot plate with melted butter, a lovely red wine, and potatoes au gratin.

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately? 

I joke with her that she makes me look like a saint, but the events happened the way that she wrote them. Apparently I am a great guy!

If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, what would you do today? 

I love my family, so I would spend the day with them. We love to snuggle on the couch with blankets and pillows and watch shows like Doctor Who and Chopped. We would eat steak (of course), sharp cheddar cheese, salami, and all the cheesecake we could handle.

What would I love the most about you? 

I’m confident and sensitive without being condescending or a jerk.

What makes you laugh out loud? 

Have you seen Dumb & Dumber? The scene where they are dressed in blue and orange tuxedos and one hits the other in the legs with a cane makes me laugh every time.

What is in your refrigerator right now? 

A lot of salad…and meat. We have both leftover chicken and beef in the fridge.

What is your greatest fear? 

Losing my family, whether that’s physically or letting relationships deteriorate. They are the most important people in my life, and I intentionally cultivate good relationships with them.
