Character Interview: Sheriff Dearborn from 'Cat O' Nine Tales'

We’re thrilled to be talking to Sheriff Dearborn from the story The Eternal Sheriff in the book, Cat O’Nine Tales by Krystal Lawrence.  It is a pleasure to have the sheriff with us today at Pimp That Character!

Thank you for your interview, Sheriff Dearborn.  How old are you and what do you do for a living?

Well now, my age…that’s a toughie. I been around since the first book in the Sidewinder Series done come out on the market, and that’s a spell back now, yah’ hear? What I do for a livin’ is keep law and order ‘round these parts. I’m the sheriff here in Sidewinder.

What would I love the most about you?

Why shucks, ma’am I’m charming.

What would I hate the most about you?

Hate? ‘Bout me? Can’t think of a thing.

Where do you go when you are angry?

To the Ace High Saloon to have a whiskey with my deputy, Johnny Starr. I tell you, I been spending a fair amount of time there just lately.

What is your most treasured possession?

My Patterson 12 shot. Just about the finest pistol ever made.

What are three must haves when shopping at the grocery store?

Oh, hon, you’ll have to ask Min and Momma what they fetch when they’re up at the general mercantile. I honestly don’t know.

I’m opening up your cabinet.  What foods do I see?

“Minnie, Momma! Can you come in here and talk to this gal please?”

If you could change one physical thing about yourself, what would that be?

Well, just between you and me——I can never seem to get my badge to sparkle just right the way I like. It’s never shiny enough to suit me. But, shush now, don’t you tell anyone I said that or I’ll flat out deny it.

Who is your best friend?

Deputy Starr.

What is your favorite meal?

Why, I’m a meat and potatoes man, ma’am. Why? You wanna cook me supper?

Someone is secretly in love with you.  Who is it and how do you feel about that?

I’m startin’ to think it’s you… and well, that’s fine, hon, just don’t let Minnie find out or I’ll be sleepin’ out back on my saddle.
