Interview with Olivia Fowler from Angelina Goode's THE AVERAGE GIRL

We’re thrilled to be talking to Olivia Fowler from Angelina Goode’s The Average Girl.  It is a pleasure to have her with us today at Pimp That Character!

Thank you for your interview, Olivia. How old are you and what do you do for a living?

Hi! Thanks for having me. I’m twenty-seven years old and I run my own business. I arrange meetings between my star-struck clients and their favorite celebrities. Although, the celebrities don’t actually know they are part of a pre-planned meeting. See, I research celebrities and find out where we are most likely to run into them. Then, I prep my clients to be the best version of themselves when they “accidentally” run into the celebrity. Since the meetings usually happen in everyday places like grocery stores, the conversations are very normal. Just like you’d have with a random stranger. My
clients love getting a glimpse of what their favorite celebrity is like when they are just being themselves.

What would I love the most about you?

Probably that I really like to help people. I know first-hand what it’s like to want to meet a celebrity, and then what it feels like when you finally do. I want everyone to feel that passion, to feel that joy. I’ll do everything I can to help other people feel that.

What would I hate the most about you?

Well, there are some people that think my business isn’t very ethical. I show up places where I expect celebrities to be, take notes on their behavior, and arrange meetings with them without their consent. But really, they have no idea that my clients are even fans. They just talk about regular stuff, like apples, or dogs, or whatever is relevant. They walk away from the meeting without knowing it was prearranged. So, if you’re a celebrity you might think that I’m invading your privacy.

Where do you go when you are angry?

My bedroom. With ice-cream. Preferably Rocky Road. Lots of it.

What is your greatest fear?

It would be awful if my clients found out that I’m dating Alexander Young, Hollywood’s leading man. They would never believe that I know how they feel and can help them if they know I am dating a celebrity myself. But I think more than that, I fear that Alexander will not accept what I do for a living if he were to find out. How can I explain to him that I secretly track celebrities, many of them his friends, so that my clients can meet them?

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?

For the most part she did. Although, I would like to think that I would keep it together a little better than she implies when I meet my favorite celebrities. I think she may be projecting a little there. But I guess that’s what makes me so good at my job. My ability to relate to how the average girl feels when she’s about to meet her favorite celebrity.

What is your idea of a perfect day?

My perfect day would start with me out and about Hollywood, tracking a new celebrity for a client. Then I’d stop by my inside sources- one at a swanky hotel and another at a popular juice bar, to gather any first-hand info they may have for me. After that, I’d meet a new client at the office and set up a plan for her to start preparing for her dream to come true. Finally, I’d end the day meeting Alexander for dinner at a nice little Italian place, where I can forget myself gazing into his sexy green eyes.

Are you a loner or do you prefer to surround yourself with friends?

I love people! The more the merrier. Plus when I’m out with friends, they can help me spot celebrities. But if I’m with Alexander, then I’d rather it be just us. Then I don’t have to worry about anyone letting anything slip about my business.

Who is your best friend?

Maria is like a sister to me. We’ve been friends forever. She is my voice of reason and won’t hesitate to tell me when I’m off track. She also knows me better than anyone and supports me no matter what. Even when I have no idea what I’m doing with my love life and it’s clear as day to her. She is also my guinea pig. I’ve tried many celebrity meeting techniques out with her.

Someone is secretly in love with you.  Who is it and how do you feel about that?

What? Me? No. No one is secretly in love with me. I would know it if they were. Hold on a second, I’ve got to go put these roses in water that my guy friend just dropped off. Some girl will be very lucky to have him someday!

About the Author

Angelina Goode began writing as a teenager. Though her first works were poems about love-struck teenagers, she grew her craft while earning her degree in Journalism and Creative Writing. A former grade school teacher that loved teaching children to write, she enjoys finding creative ways to present everyday events. Now she primarily writes light-hearted contemporary women’s fiction. She lives in Los Angeles where she enjoys the occasional celebrity sighting and year-round sun.

Angelina started gaining first-hand fan and celebrity experience as a devoted follower of her generation’s boy band. Her experience shifted in college when she interned in the promotions department for a Los Angeles based radio station and for the public relations department of a network television station. There she was able to learn about the ins and outs of promoting celebrities and all the backstage activities that are rarely seen by the public eye. She was also able to observe fans’ behavior from an objective perspective, seeing what it looks like to an outside observer.

Now she combines her experience as a loyal fan attending numerous concerts and meet and greets every year, her brief but educational stint in the entertainment industry, and a highly active imagination to create fiction for celebrity lovers of all ages.

Her latest book is the romantic comedy, The Average Girl.
