Interview with Lucas Holt from JP Ratto's 'Everything to Lose'
We’re thrilled to be talking to Lucas Holt from JP Ratto’s, Everything to Lose. It is a
pleasure to have him with us today at Pimp That Character!
Thank you for your interview, Lucas. How old are you and what do you do for a
living?
I’m in my prime (wink) and I am a private investigator specializing in
kidnap recovery.
Can you tell us about one of your most distinguishable
features?
Hmmm, I’d have to say the cleft in my chin.
What would I love the most about you?
Let’s see, there are
so many. (Wide grin) If I have to pick one, it would be that I’m a rugged type
of guy, but I’m also sensitive and compassionate.
What would I hate the most about you?
Probably my obsession
with work. I won’t elaborate too much for those who haven’t read my story, but
since my daughter disappeared, my work is what keeps me sane.
What is in your refrigerator right now?
The usual
staples—beer, eggs, and half ‘n half for my coffee.
What is your most treasured possession?
A picture of my
daughter, Marnie, when she was a baby. It was taken a few weeks before she was
kidnapped. It’s all I have left of her.
What is your greatest fear?
The thought that I’ll never see
Marnie again terrifies me. It’s been over fifteen years, but I won’t give up
hope. I have old police files and review them whenever I’m not working a case.
I refuse to believe she’s gone forever. I’m determined to find her.
Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?
Since I
internalize so much, I’d have to say they did a great job fleshing me out.
What is your idea of a perfect day?
Breakfast on the terrace
of my Gramercy Park
brownstone with my daughter sitting across from me.
Someone is secretly in love with you. Who is it and how do you feel about that?
Don’t tell her, but I hope it’s Madeline Grange. She’s the
sheriff in a small town in Pennsylvania.
This case and I wreaked a bit havoc for her, but we worked well together—yeah
we were pretty good together.

Private investigator Lucas Holt is on a
mission…
Lucas Holt specializes in kidnap recovery.
Ex-Delta Force and a former NYPD detective, he has spent the last fifteen years
burying himself in case files to cope with the unsolved abduction of his
daughter, Marnie.
Janet Maxwell just can’t let go…
After the death of Janet’s husband and son
in a tragic car accident, she hopes Holt’s expertise can locate the daughter
she gave up for adoption seventeen years ago. Janet knows her actions will have
explosive repercussions for the girl’s father—presidential candidate, Todd
Grayson. With no family, hope of finding her only daughter is all she has left.
Or is there a more sinister motive?
There’s no greater incentive for a father
than protecting his daughter…
On a mission to bury the constant reminder
of his failure to recover Marnie, Holt agrees to Janet’s proposal. But at what
cost? When his inquiries lead to news of the death of another woman, Holt can’t
shake the feeling something is off about the whole case. And when new evidence
surfaces about Marnie's disappearance, his drive to recover Janet’s daughter
and his own become one and the same.
Crooked candidates, hired mercenaries,
bitter lovers, and his own life on the line—will Holt find it inside him to
risk it all in the line of duty? There’s no telling how far you’re willing
to go when you have everything to lose.
