Interview with DCI Lowe from Andre Spiteri's VANITY PROJECT

We’re thrilled to be talking to DCI Lowe from Andre Spiteri's VANITY PROJECT.  It is a pleasure to have him with us today at Pimp That Character!

* * *

Thank you for your interview, DCI Lowe. How old are you and what do you do for a living?

Hiya, and thanks for having me. I'm the Detective Chief Inspector in charge of East Strathburgh Ward's major investigations team. Detective Inspector Brian Brandon's boss. And, well, if you must know, I'm 52 years old and feeling every single one of them. This bloody job. And bloody DI Brandon.

Can you tell us about one of your most distinguishable features?

I pretend not to notice, but I know they all make fun of my eyebrows behind my back. They're just jealous.

What would I love the most about you?

I don't believe in micromanagement, so I won't interfere unless I have to. Which, in DI Brandon's case, has been happening more than I'd like.

What makes you laugh out loud?

I love watching reruns of Chewing The Fat. You ever watched that? Absolutely smashing.

What is your most treasured possession?

My eyebrow comb.

What is your greatest fear?

Pissing off the Deputy Chief Constable.

If you could change one physical thing about yourself, what would that be?

Not my eyebrows. Or my tummy. That's pure muscle, that is.

Do you have children?

I've three daughters. All grown up and grumpy most of the time.

What is your favorite weather?

Cold and sunny. Can't beat it. It's invigorating.

Do you like to cook?

If so, what is your favorite thing to cook? I make a good fry up, if I say so myself. The secret is warming up the baked beans in the pan AFTER you've fried the sausages and bacon, so the sauce gets all that lovely flavour. Mmmm... you've got my appetite going now.

If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, what would you do today?

Tell the Deputy Chief Constable to sod off and leave the policing to people who actually know what they're doing. A bloke can dream, eh?

Book Description:

How far would you go to protect yourself if the truth is too hard to swallow?

DI Brian Brandon’s first murder investigation after a forced leave of absence seems open and shut. A love triangle gone horribly wrong.

But, the more he digs into the life of the victim — freelance cybersecurity consultant Ray Higgins — the deeper he’s drawn into a complex web of greed and betrayal.

With bodies piling up and the press baying for blood, Brian faces a race against the clock. What he hasn’t planned on is that his own demons are also hot on his heels.

Can he uncover the killer’s true identity before they catch up with him, or is he doomed to pay the ultimate price?

Vanity Project is available at Amazon UK and Amazon US.
