Character Interview with Detective Katie Scott from Jennifer Chase's THE FIRST GIRL
Thank you for your interview, Detective Katie Scott. What do you do for a living?
I'm a police detective and I head up the cold case unit, with my partner Detective Sean McGaven, for the Pine Valley Sheriff's Department.
Can you tell us about one of your most distinguishable features?
It would be my tenacity for pursing a bad guy. I'm petite in build, but I can still hold my own in a fight no matter what.
What would I love the most about you?
My loyal friendship. Once I'm your friend, you will have a friend for life.
What makes you laugh out loud?
Watching my retired military dog, Cisco, having fun racing around being silly and running after a ball.
What is your most treasured possession?
The photograph of me and my parents when I was thirteen years old and we were on a camping trip. A few months later they were killed in a car accident.
Are you a loner or do you prefer to be surrounded by friends?
I enjoy both, but you'll find me to be more of a loner. It's where I get my energy and compose my thoughts about cases.
What is in your refrigerator right now?
There are leftovers from my favorite Italian restaurant, four eggs, and some veggies.
What is your greatest fear?
Not finding the killer before there's another victim.
Who is your best friend?
My childhood best friend is Chad Ferguson. He's known me all my life, I love him deeply, and I couldn't imagine my life without him.
Do you have children?
Nope. I love children, but I want to be married first and then I would like to have two.
What is your favorite weather?
Fall. I love the feeling of the changing of the seasons after summer where things start to cool off and you know winter is coming. It energizes me.
If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, what would you do today?
I would make sure everyone I love knows they are loved and cherished.
