Interview with Celeste Jones from Sheila Roberts' The Summer Retreat
We’re thrilled to be talking to Celeste Jones from Sheila
Roberts’ The Summer Retreat. It is a
pleasure to have her with us today at Pimp That Character!
Thank you for your interview, Celeste. How old are you and
what do you do for a living?
I’m 37 and I’m a teacher. Those lucky kids. Heehee.
Can you tell us about one of your most distinguishable
features?
Well, I hear I have nice lips. And eyes. And hair. In fact,
I’m darned cute, at least that’s what I’ve always been told. So why I’m not
married by now with two kids and a dog and fabulous husband is a mystery. I
can’t seem to pick a good man.
What would I love the most about you?
The fact that I’m fun to be with. J
What would I hate the most about you?
Gosh, is there anything to hate? That’s a scary thought.
What is your greatest fear?
Not finding my other half. I don’t want to end up alone. Not
that I’d ever really be alone. I’ve got an awesome sister and a great niece and
lots of friends. But that’s not the same as having a man. I want to find my
soul mate. I was too little to even remember much about my dad, who died. Maybe
I’m looking to fill that Daddy-sized hole?
What are three must haves when shopping at the grocery
store?
Chocolate, piña colada mix and chips. A girl should always
be prepared for company.
Are you a loner or do you prefer to surround yourself with
friends?
Friends! I love to party and have fun.
Who is your best friend?
My sister Jenna, who runs the Driftwood Inn in Moonlight
Harbor. I’m so excited to be
spending the summer there, helping her. And walking on the beach. And
forgetting that rat who cheated on me.
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew
up?
Happy. And you know, teaching kids does make me happy, maybe
because I’m just a big kid myself.
If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, what would you
do today?
Throw a giant party and tell all my family and friends how
much I love them. Some people think you’re rich if you have a lot of money. I
think you’re rich when you’ve got great people in your life, and between my
family and the people I’ve met in Moonlight Harbor, boy a I rich. Now, if I can
just mind that perfect man.

BOOK BLURB:
Celeste Jones has plans for a perfect summer with her
boyfriend (and hopefully soon-to-be fiancé)—until he dumps her to be with the
woman he’s had on the side for months. Heartbroken and furious,
As soon as school lets out for the summer, she waves goodbye to her first-graders, packs up her bikini and heads for Moonlight Harbor, where she knows her big sister, Jenna, will receive her with open arms. Jenna could probably use some help at the Driftwood Inn, and Celeste is happy to do chores around the place in exchange for a relaxing summer escape. She just needs something—or someone—to distract her from her troubles.
Finding The One can be tricky, and Jenna is determined to make sure Celeste gets it right this time around. Not that Jenna’s an expert. She’s still trying to sort out her own love life. But if both sisters listen to their hearts, eventually they’re bound to discover that life—and love—is good at the beach.
