We’re thrilled to be talking to Det. Lily Blanchette from Marguerite Ashton’s, Her Final Watch.  It is a pleasure to have her with us today at Pimp That Character!

Thank you for your interview, Lily.  How old are you and what do you do for a living?

I’m enjoying my thirties.

I work for the Fort Atkinson Police Department as a homicide investigator.

Can you tell us about one of your most distinguishable features?

The part on my right eyebrow. I had stitches when I was younger after banging my head on the corner of the television while playing tag with my little sister.

What would I love the most about you?

That I have an ability to think outside of the rules and test my leadership to find the guilty party, while setting aside strife in my personal life.

What would I hate the most about you?

That I left my dog, Max with my ex. I did it for my husband who was jealous of the previous relationship and didn’t like animals. Although, after everything that happened, I’m beginning to wonder if he lied about not liking animals.

Anyway, it wasn’t until later on in the marriage that I realized I’d made a mistake.

Where do you go when you are angry?

I pick up my tools and work on my Victorian. I want to restore the 105-year-old home to its former glory. I’m obsessed with details, especially in older homes.

What is in your refrigerator right now?

Two percent milk, cheese curds and raspberry ice tea. By the way, if anyone checked my freezer, they’d see a half-gallon of French silk ice cream sitting next to walleye fillets.

What is your most treasured possession?

My father’s badge. He meant the world to me.

What is your greatest fear?

Explaining the circumstances surrounding the death of their father.

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?

No. I’m waiting patiently as Ms. Ashton reveals more of my character traits in upcoming books.

Who is your best friend?

Morgan Danvers.  She’s still recovering and I’m hoping Ms. Ashton has plans for bringing her back.

But Lily's usual laser-like focus on the case has been disrupted.

Two weeks earlier, she learned she was pregnant by her murderous husband whom she'd killed in self-defense. Unsure whether to keep her baby or place the child of this cruel man up for adoption, Lily keeps the pregnancy a secret from her colleagues.

Under mounting pressure to solve the case, Lily arranges a sit-down with a local mob boss only to find out her suspect is also wanted by them. But before Lily can warn her team, she and her new partner, Jeremiah, are shot at, and another body is found.

When she discovers Jeremiah has a connection with the underworld, she is pulled into a conflict that swirls around the boss's son who's hell-bent on revenge.

To add to the complexity of the situation, Lily learns that her victim might still be alive if it wasn't for opportunistic Assistant District Attorney, Ibee Walters, who has a twisted vision of justice.
