Character Interview: Jed of 'Born to Resist'
We’re thrilled to be talking to Jed from
Ember-Raine Winters, Born To Resist. It is a pleasure to have him
with us today at Pimp That Character!
Thank you for your interview, Jed. How old are you and what do you do for a
living?
Thank you for having me! I am 21 years old
and I am a soldier for The Resistance. I am stationed in Silver City, New Mexico.
Can you tell us about one of your most
distinguishable features?
Well, Alexa has been known to call me a
mountain man. I am about 6’4” and as she would say I am built like a tank. Ha
ha!
Where do you go when you are angry?
The base I live on has roof access for
when hover crafts come in from HQ. I either sit up there and collect my
thoughts or I will go patrolling. In the hopes that I will catch a RONA guard
doing something he shouldn't and I can vent my frustrations on him.
What makes you laugh out loud?
Alexa and Jacobs banter. Sometimes those
two are so funny I can't help but laugh. Especially, when they harass Xander.
The boy is wound like a freaking top and they try their best to lighten him up.
What is your greatest fear?
The thing I fear most is that when the
time comes I won't be able to protect the people I love most in the world. I
spent my entire life doing everything I can in The Resistance to protect those
that our government turned their back on. But, I am afraid that when it comes
down to it, I will fail to protect the ones that matter most to me.
What is the trait you most not like about
yourself?
I feel deeply. Maybe a little too deeply
for a soldier. It's cost me everything in the past and it's something I have
come to realize I can never do anything about.
Do you think the author portrayed you
accurately?
I think she did to an extent. She makes me
sound a lot wiser and more noble than I am. (Laughs) I am not as likable as she
paints me to be. Most people give me a wide berth. (Smiles wide)
Are you a loner or do you prefer to
surround yourself with friends?
I used to be a loner. I went through some
stuff awhile back and I shut-down. Shut everyone out of my life pretty much.
But, recently I have been known to be seen running around the country with
Alexa, Jacob, Xander, and Kara. As long as the four of them are the group I
surround myself with then I am pretty happy.
When you were a child, what did you want
to be when you grew up?
My dad was a soldier. He fought in the
Immigration Wars and he died when I was five. I always wanted to follow in his
foot steps. He was my hero.
What is your most treasured possession?
I received a Medal of Bravery for taking
down ten RONA guards who were attacking a couple of women in an alley. It was
an honor. That is my most prized possession.
