Character Interview with Danny of I HAVE FAITH

We’re thrilled to be talking to Danny from Davin Whitehurst’s, I Have Faith.  It is a pleasure to have him with us today at Pimp That Character!

Thank you for your interview, Danny.  How old are you and what do you do for a living?

I am eight years old and currently a third grader at Wilson Elementary School. I enjoy playing in the backyard with my new dog and active in baseball, basketball and golf.

What is your most treasured possession?

My faith is what I treasure the most. I know that my toys and clothes and everything else will change but my faith I will have forever, so I don’t take that for granted.

What would I love the most about you?

I am a very caring person. I love to help people out and always there for my friends when they need me. I think I am patient so I don’t get mad very easily and I just love people.

Where do you go when you are angry?

I go to my room. It gives me time to cool down and not say things I shouldn’t say. My older brother gets on my nerves a lot, and so instead of egging it on I just go to my room to get away.

What makes you laugh out loud?

I am a very silly person so jokes will make me laugh. My brother and I laugh a lot. So much so, many times no one else is laughing but we are rolling around on the floor.

What is your idea of a perfect day?

A summer day, spending time with my friends in the neighborhood, playing football in the back yard or riding around on our bikes makes a perfect day. Summer days are so awesome as we can just play all day and stay up at night.

Are you a loner or do you prefer to surround yourself with friends?

I love being around my friends and family. There is always something to be done whether we are playing board or video games indoors or camping or playing sports outdoors. I like being active and doing it with other people.

Who is your best friend?

My best friend is Sam. He knows me and we get along really good. He lives at the end of the block and we are almost inseparable. Sam is the one from the book that did not believe I would get a dog. He had heard my mother say many times that we were not allowed to get a dog, so he never believed it would ever happen.

What is your favorite weather?

I love the snow. I will spend hours outside building forts, snow sledding, or snowball fights with the all my friends around the neighborhood is awesome. My mom does not like the cold weather but I like the snow and especially the snow days, NO SCHOOL!

Do you like to cook?  If so, what is your favorite thing to cook?

I like to cook, and one of my favorites is pizza. Rolling the dough out and putting all the toppings on top is so much fun. Then eating it is the best part. My mom let’s me help out in the kitchen so I get to pretend I am a chef.

About the Author

Davin Whitehurst lives in the beautiful high desert of Southern Arizona with his wife and son. He is releasing his first book "I have Faith" in May of 2016 but has so many more that are in the making. The motivation behind the books are deeply rooted from in his own past. He is a living testimony of Proverbs 22:6. Growing up in Southwest Kansas and in a Christian household, he was trained up in the way he should go. By the time he became a teenager, Davin turned away from God and left church. Fast forward into his late twenties and God brought him back with a powerful calling. He and his family have been faithfully serving at Seed of Abraham Christian Center International for over seven years now. Proof that when we teach our children the way they should go. When they get older, they know where to turn and will not depart from God. Davin wants each book written to be a resource that parents have to help train their children in the way they should go. He writes stories in a simple way that will be fun and practical for every child. He wants children to get excited about faith and the things of God.

His latest release is the children’s book, I Have Faith.

Are you ready to get your child excited about faith? “I Have Faith” puts your child right in the footsteps of Danny as he begins to learn about faith. Danny and his older brother have been wanting a dog, but both know their parents don’t think they are ready for a dog. When Danny’s mom begins teaching him what the bible says about faith, he puts his faith into action. After praying and releasing his faith for a dog, doubt and even his best friend keep telling him that he will never get a dog. Over time Danny never loses his faith in the promises of God and finds that God is faithful and that faith works. Come along on this journey that is a real life event that took place in the author’s life as a child.

This book has great illustrations that support a wonderful story about finding faith in God. As you are teaching your child about principals in the bible; this book will help you teach faith. What a wonderful experience it is when we can see our children begin to develop their faith in God, and grow from a tiny mustard seed to a firmly planted tree. The back of the book has a parent/child discussion which will help children gain understanding in faith and some scriptures that Danny’s mom used to get him excited about faith.
