Sarah Tremont: Night Terror by Jeff Gunhus
We’re thrilled to be talking to Sarah Tremont from Jeff Gunhus’ supernatural/thriller/horror novel, Night Terror. It is a pleasure to have her with us today at Pimp That Character!
Thank you for your
interview, Sarah. Can you tell
us your story?
I live in Prescott City, Maryland, the site of that massive underground
cave-in you probably heard about in the news about ten years ago. Contrary to
what the newspapers said, that was actually my dad and a guy named Joseph
Lonetreewho blew up the caves to save me from a cult trying to kill me. I was
five when that happened and over the last ten years I’ve pretended that I have
no memory of the caves and I’ve hidden the fact that I still have psychic
powers. I hold them back but they are threatening to overwhelm me.
Can you tell us
about one of your most distinguishable features?
I can see into
people’s minds. Hear their thoughts. Even when I try not to hear, sometimes it’s
so loud that I can’t help it. Sometimes, especially when I’m angry, things move
around without me touching them.
What would I love
the most about you?
I’d do anything for
my family, even if it means sacrificing myself for them.
What would I hate
the most about you?
There’s something
inside of me, a hate, a dark power, that I can’t control sometimes.
Where do you go
when you are angry?
I disappear inside
myself. Inside the fire where my powers burn even when I ignore them.
What makes you
laugh out loud?
My dog, Buddy, is a
great friend. He’s getting old now so he barks at squirrels even after they’ve
run away because he can’t see them. It’s pretty funny…but kind of sad too.
What is your
greatest fear?
That there are more
people in the word like the ones who tried to kill me before. When I close my
eyes I can still see them reaching out for me.
What is the trait
you most not like about yourself?
I find it harder to
control my temper. When I get angry, bad things happen.
What is your
favorite weather?
I like the spring
when everything comes back to life after being dead for the winter. The fall is
when I was abducted. That time of year always give me the creeps.
What is your most
treasured possession?
I still have a
small stone I picked up in the caves from when I was five. It reminds me of the
hundreds of people who were held like cattle in those dark caves. It makes the
nightmares feel worthwhile because I avenged what happened to them.
About the Author:
Jeff Gunhus is the author of both adult
thrillers and the Middle Grade/YA series, The Templar Chronicles. The first
book, Jack Templar Monster Hunter, was written in an effort to get his
reluctant reader eleven-year old son excited about reading. It worked and a new
series was born. His book Reaching Your Reluctant Reader has helped
hundreds of parents create avid readers. As a father of five, he and his wife
lead an active lifestyle simply trying to keep up with their kids. In rare moments
of quiet, he can be found in the back of the City Dock Cafe in Annapolis working on his next novel.
His latest book is the thriller/horror novel,
Night
Terror.
For More Information
Ten years after her abduction and
near-sacrifice to the Source, Sarah Tremont struggles to be a normal teenager.
As much as she’s tried to suppress the power inside of her, it’s grown
dangerously strong and has drawn the attention of those who want to possess her
power for themselves.
The nightmare that she thought was long over
starts again as powerful forces descend upon Prescott City to seek her out. With her parents and
Joseph Lonetree’s help, Sarah must stand up to an evil much more powerful than
the one she faced in the caves a decade earlier. But in the end, she discovers
the greatest danger might come from the power living inside of her.
